Background

Our latest project review comes from our hometown of Blackpool and the historic Grundy Art Gallery.

Brothers Cuthbert and John Grundy founded the Grundy Art Gallery in 1911 with the ambition to show the best art of the day to the people of Blackpool. It has been at the centre of artistic life in Blackpool for over 100 years and many now recognise it as a leading contemporary visual arts venue in the North West.

The Project

The client tasked us with wrapping the concrete pillars at the front of the gallery as part of an upcoming exhibition.

We completed a detailed site survey before we got started as the pillars taper towards the top. This meant we couldn’t use a standard rectangular banner.

We also couldn’t use any fixings that could damage the stonework so we needed to produce something bespoke.

Using our experience and expertise in-house we opted for full colour, printed PVC banners that we wrapped around the pillars and fixed them in place using tie wraps and bungee fixings to the rear. It was important to keep all fixings out of sight.

The Outcome

The client was absolutely thrilled with the finished look and the gallery have confirmed that they will now likely use this solution 3-4 times per year which is fantastic news.

Another happy client in Blackpool to add to the likes of Blackpool Tower, SEA LIFE Centre, Madame Tussauds and the plethora of hotels that we’re pleased to call long term clients.
